Missions & Outreach

St John’s is a mission driven church. Below are descriptions of some of our  work and how you can get involved.  Due to the pandemic, many of these efforts have been suspended until there is a safe way to resume.

Community Meal
The last Saturday of every month several members of the church bring hearts filled with generosity, kindness and the Holy Spirit and present nourishing food to our fellow man. We cook and serve our guests family style at decorated tables so that our guests feel honored and at home. St. John's feeds between 20 to 30 people every month and although the faces change month to month, the numbers remain the same. Our luncheon is held at the end of the month in an effort to help those in need make it financially to the end of the month.  The Community Meal is suspended indefinitely at this time.

Christmas Sock Drive

This has become an annual drive with socks shared between those in need at our outreach lunch, the Neighbors’ Place, and the Salvation Army!

Episcopal Church Women (ECW)
The ECW is an autonomous group of women within the parish who are dedicated to community service and relief.  Their ongoing fundraising efforts have included a famous Christmas Cookie sale, which they have discontinued.  In lieu of the cookie sale, they now offer a variety of Christmas confections and baked goods sold yearly to support their mission and efforts.  Christmas sales are discontinued during the pandemic, but they are accepting contributions.

Food Pantries
Our parish works works collaboratively with many local organizations, but we are partnered with The Neighbors' Place currently to help the community's needs for nutrition assistance.  Please consider helping our community partner at http://neighborsplace.org.

Episcopal Relief and Development
The Episcopal Church is part of a global Communion of 80 million-plus members who are part of the Anglican tradition.  Through our national collective efforts, we aim to serve the planet and our Christian siblings in alleviating suffering and need in a sustainable manner.  In the past, we have raised funds for Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) to provide medicine and health services to ten people each year, and plant 50 trees.  To donate, go to https://www.episcopalrelief.org/
